En décembre, la fédération internationale (IHF) et la fédération asiatique de handball (AHF) ont voté la répétition des tounoirs de qualification qui avaient eut lieu au Kazakhstan et Japon lors de l'été 2007. Ces derniers avaient en effet été l'objet de "manipulations" dans les catégories féminines comme masculines. A la fin du mois de janvier dernier, les matchs ont rejoué mais les résultats ont été remis en cause par les fédérations asiatiques, la fédération du Kazakhstan et du Koweit.
Suite à ce différent, l'IHF et l'AHF ont décidé de porter l'affaire devant la Cour d'Arbitrage du Sport. Ce choix a été fait pour que le processus soit rapide et la décision de la CAS sera celle à laquelle s'appliqueront les deux parties.
La séance aura lieu le 19 mars 2008.
IHF and AHF agree to take their dispute to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS)
Due to manipulation of both the women's and men's tournaments the IHF Council had voted last December for a repeat of the tournaments that had respectively taken place in Kazakhstan and Japan in August and September 2007.The recent replay of the Asian Qualifying Handball Tournaments for the 2008 Beijing Olympics in Japan at the end of January has been disputed by the Asian Handball Federation, the Kazakhstan Handball Federation and the Kuwait Handball Association.
IHF
and AHF have agreed to refer this issue to the CAS to assure a speedy
resolution to this conflict prior the Olympic Qualification Tournaments
as the final ruling will be binding for all parties. On 19th March 2008
the hearing will take place at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
